Proposal

It has only taken me almost a month, but here is how it all happened.

Brian and I had been taking about getting married for some time. I had left the decision completely up to him whether we got married, or moved on to bigger and better things. Brian being Brian, he had to analyze EVERYTHING, good and bad. It was Friday April 9th and I had to work, but Brian had the day off. When I was finally done around 3, he was really wanting to do something. So we picked up some lunch and he told me he had made a list of the Positives and Negatives of getting married. Shocking! So sitting in the drive thru at Wendy's I first saw "the List". There were 2 PAGES of concerns he had when it came to marriage, and roughly 12 reasons why it would be a good thing. I was super bummed because I realized he was farther away from getting married then I had ever imagined. We started discussing every concern he had while driving along Wasatch Blvd. I was so caught up in trying to convince him I wasn't going to turn crazy, our kids would have a choice whether they cheered for Utah or BYU, and many other reasons that are slightly more personal, that I didn't realize where we were.

He parked at the base of Brighton right by Silver Lake. We continued to discuss these concerns for about an hour. Brian started getting restless and didn't really want to keep talking, nothing out of the ordinary whatsoever. He got out of the car, played with Bella (who came along for the ride) and started acting really silly. I didn't really know what to do, so I just kept talking. Eventually he got back in the drivers seat and we finished our conversation. When we got to the end of the list, I asked if had any other concerns he should probably just bring them up right then. He said No, so I looked back at the "Good reasons". I noticed that out of the 12 reasons, 5 of them were "I Love You", so really he could only come up with 7. I was bummed, but surprisingly had not given up hope completely.

Just then I looked up at Brian, and he was sitting there in the drivers seat holding the ring. I was in shock! He asked "Will you marry me then?" I responded with "Are you serious?"...he then asked "Yes, will you be my wife?" and I said "Is this a joke?" and finally for a 3rd time he said "No, will you marry me?" and I finally said "Yes!"

After I had calmed down a little, he started telling me the List was all part of the plan. He had always wanted the proposal to be a surprise and it definetly worked. Silver Lake was where we had our first date, and it is a very memorable place for us. (Our first date story was one for the ages) He had wanted to take me to a specific place on the lake where on our first date, I freaked out because we were surrounded by moose. I wouldn't let him be a man and save us that night, instead I cried and made him call his dad to come save us. He told me sitting there almost 4 years earlier that he knew I was someone different and special, and that he could quite easily fall in love with me. It was perfect to go back to where it all started and now have even better memories of one of our favorite places ever.

I am so excited to marry Brian! I have known for quite sometime that I wanted to spend my life with him. He is loving, unselfish, funny, and dorky. He is so patient with me and all of my issues. He accepts me completely for who I am and supports me in everything I do. I love him more than I ever thought I could love anyone! July 9th could not come soon enough!!!
